C-242. Pseudo-CEM

There’s the back and forth that’s going nowhere. Such as the “hard” and “soft” policies of toilet training, of discipline in elementary and secondary education, of family conduct and foreign policy. These lack CEM potential. They fail the teeter-totter test. Imbalance threatens. Trauma may ensue.

Pseudo-CEM is the kind of change we may get from a succession of scenes or of marriage partners. It is the kind of change we all too frequently get from political decision making (e.g., elections). It is the kind of frustrating change that is back and forth but no more than that, falling short of needed and wanted emergence, and inviting traumatic oscillation.

Pseudo-CEM is what B-ness and B-speak have given us, in their neglect of phenomena and principles from the Expansion and the S-universe. Where the CEM is! B-ness conceptualization and copying of backward-looking behavioral instances at the expense of forward development using theoretical constructs, favoring the mettle ore of experience over informed experiment with mettles and mettle alloying. Risky B-ness indeed! Our future is at risk.

Without procedural technology, progress from back and forth to CEM has been painfully slow in human history. Propinquity, as in cross-disciplinary relationships, has had some success. New fields open up. But common interest does not assure emergent results.*

Real change demands R-sense. Real change is to be found or made in the S-universe. With R-technologies we can develop it there. We have been foolish to try to find it in the B-universe. It has to be made. A matter of Solve, not Decide.

Change without self-realization is not real change. Communities, like individuals, are selves. “Know thyself” should probably be read as “Know thy selves.” Community, theoretically, is needed functionality and not just a concept re observed instances, so its self is pure step. Developing technologies, both tool and procedure, to realize community step making and taking, is work to be done in the S-universe and the Expansion.

* Emergence appears to be an Expansion differentiation phenomenon, manifested in the B- and S-universes but not explicable therein. History per se (body CEM step) would seem to confirm this.
