C-237. Expanding universe*

The asterisk is deserved. A so-called “expanding universe” … now. A hoax if we keep it up. The human tragedy if we persist … anthropogenically: it being our own invention. An answer that prevents us from solving our problems. An answer that keeps us from explaining the human condition.

B-ness, our “body” bias toward seeing behavior only in terms of behavioral entities, invited the answer by inquiring about what all the “heavenly” bodies were doing. When it was discovered that the so-called “universe” of bodies is expanding, and not likely to contract, a Tell was missed.

B-speak condones conceptual reference to an “expanding universe” even though it is incorrect on three of four counts and misleading on the fourth. The three incorrect conceptual counts are Mind technology faults by which we have come to see things inside-out, upside-down and backwards. Respectively:

Inside-out because the Expansion in consequence of Big Bang actually comprises the B-universe (of bodies) … along with a S-universe (of steps). Keeping in mind that the “-uni” in “universe” is gratuitous, implying a 1-ness greater than the collation it is.

Upside-down because the B-universe, a thingk, rests on top of the S-universe and makes us have to (try to) see what is called for (WICF) and what there is to be talked about (WTITBTA) through the clouded lens of B-ness and B-speak (what is said about [WISA] what is talked about [WITA]).

Backwards because we see steps in the B-universe, after the fact as behavioral instances, and as body properties or body-body relationships. We focus attention on the outcomes of our behaviors instead of on the beginnings and conduct of our next steps. Too easily “progress” settles for evolution instead of development, for decision making instead of problem solving.

And misleading. Not just because there are two universes … two thingks, constructs serving to collect and label what see as bodies and steps. But because we are using B-universe concepts to do the work for which the Expansion requires theoretical constructs. B-universe observers have been content to deal with things of nature (instances) to the neglect of the Nature of Things, the whole (the Involve) of the Expansion. Concepts just collect instances. They Grasp weakly. Any hope that concepts could eventuate in theory is misplaced.

Because of these Mind technology flaws, humanity can be said to have missed its place. Humans are not just somewhere in the B-universe, locatable by domicile on Earth and by Earth’s relationships with other bodies. Humans are AT the leading edge of the Expansion: AT and ON the Frontier of the Expansion. Further, ON that Frontier humans are in the S-universe, about to take – perhaps make to take – a next step.

The effect of reversing these three misperceptions – the inside-out, upside-down and backwards views – is transfigurative. The “big picture” just got much bigger and clearer. Two-thirds of it, the Expansion (aka “energy”) and the S-universe (steps), is behavioral. The other third is only partly behavioral but we have been operating on the assumption that these behaviors are Tell enough. The effect of this transfigurative contribution is that we are now better placed to become more effective, not dependent on behavioral entities and instances.

Place matters. Where to build is important, along with the foundations on which to build (BFEPS.org). Our efforts to solve problems have suffered from both shortcomings.

Place is reflected in point of view and perspective. If we settle for B-ness (B-universe, B-speak et al) and the lack of attention to the Expansion and the S-universe, we are 1-dimensional in both point of view and perspective. This may satisfy an observer of behaviors. But not the actor needing to make steps to take.

Evolution has taken a long time and gone to a lot of trouble to equip the human body with 3-D sensOry capacities. Can we afford to give development a pass on equipping the human step with 3-D sensEry capabilities? Human progress, such as it is, has more closely resembled evolution than development until the recent upsurge in technology. But that upsurge in technology is more remarkable for tools than for procedures.

Fight mental poverty! Find or make the life you need and want in the R-spacetime of the S-universe, looking forward AT, ON the Frontier of the Expansion, equipped with R-sense technology of mettles and mettle alloying.

Consider two Mind strategies: 1/ After a step has been taken, we can mind it as part of our next step … as to whether it was good or bad in terms of results; or, 2/ We can strengthen the Mind mettle(s), using procedural technology, to make a step before it is taken. More Trials, fewer tries. More “all that it takes,” less “whatever it takes.”

Both strategies are useful. But the first strategy has led us to rely for governance on a B-ness control system more than an R-sense operating system. Most notably, in our dependence on statutes, norms and customs … and in our dismal record of unsolved problems.
